The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are international goals for 2016–2030 outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 as the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

They consist of 17 goals and 169 targets designed to address global challenges such as poverty, hunger, inequality, energy, and climate change.

The SDGs represent a shared global commitment based on the pledge to “leave no one behind.”
